Blockchain-Based Healthcare Records with Patient-Centric Control

Managing healthcare records across different providers is a complex and fragmented process. My idea is to develop a decentralized healthcare record system using blockchain technology, which would give patients complete control over their data. By storing medical records on a blockchain ledger, patients could grant or revoke access to their records through smart contracts, ensuring that only authorized personnel can view or update their information. This system would enhance data security, as blockchain’s immutable nature prevents unauthorized alterations. Integrating this with IoT devices like wearable health monitors could enable real-time data updates, allowing doctors to access crucial information during emergencies or regular checkups. Patients would have a digital key, possibly stored on their smartphones, to manage data sharing seamlessly. Challenges include ensuring data interoperability across different healthcare systems and achieving a user-friendly interface. However, this solution could empower patients with greater autonomy over their health data while improving the efficiency of medical care. It could particularly benefit telemedicine and remote healthcare services.
